Our Story
Welcome to The Day After Prison Reentry Services, a nonprofit organization spearheaded in 2022 by Edrid Tirado. With a diverse background as a probation officer, correctional instructor, diversion counselor, and more, Ed accumulated 25 years of experience in the criminal justice system. Through his extensive work, he identified a critical gap in services – the challenge faced by those who need support the most in accessing advantageous resources.
The Day After Prison was established with a singular vision: to offer human-focused reentry support that is easily accessible to those in need. Recognizing the inherent difficulties in transitioning from incarceration to society, and the fact that 95% of individuals incarcerated will release one day, our organization is committed to removing barriers where possible and providing essential assistance during this crucial period.
Since our inception, The Day After Prison has expanded to include three officers and three dedicated board members. Each member of our team shares a deep commitment to the mission of reducing recidivism and fostering opportunities for success among formerly incarcerated individuals.

Staggering Statistics:
Around 96% of individuals currently incarcerated in Washington State will reenter society at some point.
Formerly incarcerated people are ten times more likely to be unhoused than the general population.
45% of federal inmates report having mental health concerns. This is more than twice that of the general population.
An estimated 60% of formerly incarcerated individuals experience unemployment.
A contribution as little as $3-5 a month can help reduce recidivism and create a smoother reentry process for many individuals in Washington State.
